What You'll Study

The Iranian Studies Minor at UCSB adopts an interdisciplinary approach to the study of Iranian
society, focusing on language, history, religion, culture, and gender. The specialization provides
UCSB undergraduate students with a global lens to explore Iranian societies across time and
space. Students can take a variety of classes related to Iran in subjects such as religious studies,
history, literature, language, music, sociology, cinema, art, and politics. The program also offers
two years of Persian language instruction.
