Bio

Dr. Sarp Kurgan received his dissertation from the Department of Global Studies at UCSB (2022). His dissertation is entitled Revolutionary Intellectuals: Progressive Political Thought, Intellectual-State Relations, and Hegemonic Confrontations in Turkey and the Middle East, 1930-1971. His articles have appeared in Perspectives on Global Development and Technology and in the edited book Covid-19 and Governance. He has a forthcoming article in Millennium: Journal of International Studies. He will be working on a comparative study of intellectual history and revolutions in Iran, Egypt, and Turkey during his residence at UCSB. Dr. Kurgan plans to finish his book manuscript and publish three articles during his time at the Iranian Studies Program.
